Cryowave Air Review
Best budget air-gapped wallet
of 10
The Cryowave Air brings QR-based air-gapped signing to a budget price without the usual compromises on isolation. Support and documentation lag the premium tier, but for cost-conscious users who still want no USB or Bluetooth, it is a strong value.

Cons

- Support is email-only with slower response times
Overview
The Cryowave Air proves air-gapping does not have to be expensive. It has no USB data port and no radio at all; every transaction is passed by scanning QR codes between the device and your phone. A rechargeable battery keeps it untethered during setup.
Fees & costs
At $79 it is among the cheapest air-gapped devices available. The companion app does not bundle a swap desk, so you pay only network fees. That restraint is refreshing at this price and keeps ongoing costs at zero.
Security
Keys are held in an EAL5+ secure element and confirmed on the device screen. The isolation model is genuinely strong because there is no connection to compromise. The main caveat is that Cryowave publishes less detail about its chip internals and firmware audits than pricier rivals, so verification is harder.
Who it's for
The Air suits budget-minded users who still want the peace of mind of a fully offline signer. If you value published audits and fast support you may pay up elsewhere, but for the money the isolation on offer is excellent.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Cryowave Air really air-gapped at this price?
Yes. It has no USB data mode and no Bluetooth; all signing happens over QR codes, so it never connects to an online device.
How is support handled?
Support is email-based, which is adequate but slower than the live chat offered by some premium competitors.
