Vaultic Stratum Review
Best overall cold storage
of 10
The Stratum pairs a high-assurance secure element with a genuinely air-gapped signing model, making it our top pick for users who want maximum isolation. Firmware transparency and wide asset support keep it practical rather than paranoid.

Overview
The Vaultic Stratum is a premium cold wallet built around a dual-chip architecture: a general microcontroller for the interface and an EAL6+ certified secure element that holds the seed. Signing happens offline and is relayed through animated QR codes, so the private keys never touch a networked device.
Fees & costs
The device costs $169 with no subscription. Vaultic does not run its own swap desk, so on-chain fees are set by the networks you use and by whichever third-party companion app you pair. That keeps recurring costs at zero but means fee optimisation is on you.
Security
Keys are generated on-device from a certified true random number generator, and the secure element is rated against fault-injection and side-channel attacks. Firmware is reproducibly built and open source, letting researchers verify the binary. A passphrase layer and configurable PIN wipe round out the defences.
Who it's for
The Stratum suits long-term holders and treasuries who prioritise isolation over convenience. The QR workflow is slower than USB but removes an entire class of connection-borne attacks, a trade most security-conscious users will accept.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Vaultic Stratum fully air-gapped?
Yes. It can sign transactions entirely over QR codes without ever connecting via USB or Bluetooth, so the seed never touches an online device.
Can I recover funds if the device breaks?
Recovery uses a standard BIP39 seed phrase, so you can restore to any compatible wallet if the hardware fails.
